The story of the Jordan Gate Project started in 2005 as a main project for the Jordan Gate Company, and the core of the project was the establishment of two connected towers with high height in the middle of the capital Amman, adding to it a new architectural icon like the Housing Bank Complex and the Royal Hotel, and to be the first skyscraper project in Jordan and Amman.
In May 2005 His Majesty King Abdullah II put the foundation stone for this project, and from here the dream started to become true, but what happened?
The Homes team will tell you what happened and will narrate to you the chapters of the story.. are you ready?
Since ancient times the land that the Jordan Gate Project now stands on was distinguished by the fertility of its soil and its richness with a plant that looks like an ear, and this was the reason for naming this area Umm Uthaina! This piece in particular was private property and its area was 60,000 square meters, until the year 1959 came and the Greater Amman Municipality bought it for the purpose of developing it real estate-wise and building a public garden in it. It was the Amra Garden which became an important landmark of the Umm Uthaina area and a main entertainment destination for most of Amman’s residents.
And after twenty years, in the year 1979, the plan was updated and a part of the land was allocated to an investment project, and the result of the investment was the establishment of Amra Hotel in 1984 which is now the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Amra Garden occupied a strategic location in Umm Uthaina, one of the most important and expensive areas of Amman, and it was an entertainment refuge for the people of the area and the nearby areas. But with the passing of the years the vision for this garden started to change and the plan to develop it and invest in it real estate-wise became an urgent matter and not just a luxury. So the decision came to sell Amra Garden to an investment company to invest and develop the land real estate-wise. The Amra Garden was acquired by GFH Financial from Bahrain in the year 2004.
We reached the year 2005 which was the starting point of the Jordan Gate Project – Sixth Towers, and His Majesty King Abdullah II put the foundation stone by his hand for the Gate Project! Out of his keenness to achieve his vision in enhancing real estate investments in Amman and Jordan.
And the question remains why the Jordan Gate Project stayed stuck until today? Let us continue the chapters of our story together.
The building started in the Jordan Gate Project in the middle of the year 2005, and the building kept going higher and higher until it achieved the first record number for the tallest building in Amman in the year 2007 with a height that reached 985 meters above sea level.
And the question that comes to people’s minds, who are the companies responsible for a huge project the size of the Jordan Gate Project? The companies that started the project were not Jordanian, they are the Kuwaiti Finance and Investment Company, Al-Hamad Contracting Company, and Hilton Company, and the beginning was in partnership with the Greater Amman Municipality.
The Greater Amman Municipality entered as a partner in developing the Jordan Gate Project with the Kuwaiti Finance and Investment Company and Al-Hamad Contracting and Hilton, but some reasons happened that made the Greater Amman Municipality take hard decisions, as it was forced first to sell its share in the project for 40 million dinars in order to develop the surrounding infrastructure of the project, second the height of the Jordan Gate Project was a violation to the building regulations in Amman regarding the number of floors in that area in spite of getting a permit to build it. Therefore, the Greater Amman Municipality had to give up its name as a partner, but in the year 2022 it acquired 31% of the value of the project and entered again as a partner in the Jordan Gate Project.
So what happened during those years in the Jordan Gate Project?
And here we are on the doorstep of the year 2026, we hope that the promise will be achieved and the Jordan Gate Project will see the light as planned, after the agreement to resume the work in it in the year 2022 through the Jordan Gate Company the main owner of the project and the Greater Amman Municipality.
Many stories and adventures passed through the Jordan Gate Project, forming different obstacles during its stages of construction.. its beginning was in the year 2006 which witnessed a fire accident in it and the collapse of a number of floors, followed by the global financial crisis that controlled the world during the years 2007 and 2008, so the work stopped in the project for a few years where the building was exposed to damage and erosion, and the stories ended, thanks to Allah, with the accident of the collapse of a part of the crane, and the stopping of the work in the project in spite of the completion of 70% of it.
And these incidents and obstacles were like a point and a new beginning to complete the Jordan Gate Project! And today we are only waiting for the opening of the project after the work in it resumed.
Indeed, as the general manager said in one of the TV interviews, the Jordan Gate Project designed and executed two apartments at the top of the tower with the highest level of luxury. These two apartments are the highest in height in terms of residential real estate in Amman!
It is not the end for the Jordan Gate Project, but it is the beginning of the end for a real estate investment that puts a distinctive mark in Amman and witnesses its architectural development from its Roman history until today. And the statements of the director of the Jordan Gate Project came to confirm the value of this building after all the obstacles were passed and the legal and construction matters were settled. Imagine with us how this project will be:
Five floors underground for parking that fit more than 1,700 cars.
The project includes 215 residential units with different sizes.
An initial launch that includes 24 apartments.
The project is without debts and its financing is fully available and there are no delayed financial obligations.
A private sewage network with a cost that exceeded five million dinars.
The apartments were supplied with control and smart automation systems (Smart Homes) that allow the residents to manage their services through mobile applications.
Everyone now is waiting for the completion of the Jordan Gate Project, the project that will have another dimension for the capital Amman, and a housing and commercial system with a luxurious style.. in addition to the strategic location that the project occupies, from wherever you look you see the Sixth Towers.
Here we are counting a few months until the Jordan Gate Project sees the light and the curtain falls on the last chapter of its story successfully.
The total cost of the Jordan Gate Project was estimated at 300 million US dollars.
The ownership of the Jordan Gate Project – Sixth Towers goes back to the Jordan Gate Real Estate, Commercial and Tourism Investment Company that was established in 2005. The board of directors is headed by Mr. Abdulmughni Abdullah Al-Abed Al-Mughni, and Mr. Tarek Abdulrahman is the general manager and secretary of the board of directors.
The number of floors in the Jordan Gate Project – Sixth Towers reached 43 floors, and the height of the project reaches 985 meters above sea level.
The number of residential units – apartments in the Jordan Gate Project is 215 apartments, two of them were designed and executed at the top of the tower.
The prices start from 1600 dinars per square meter in the lower floors, and the higher we go in the floors the higher the price of the meter in the apartment.
Of course, Jordan Gate is a huge project designed specially to be in the style of towers in the developed countries. The tower that has apartments, a mall, commercial shops, entertainment halls, and restaurants. It is not just a tower! It is a complete project residential, commercial, and entertaining.
